As with the other remotes in the Harmony line, this remote simplifies managing all of your Home theater equipment. It includes a bright color screen, one-click activity buttons, and control of up to five devices. Access TV shows, movies, and music, even in the dark.

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Silver

Unlike the other Harmony remotes, such as the Harmony One, the Harmony 650 has no touchscreen. It’s not rechargeable, and is limited to only 5 devices at a time. However as with the other Harmony remotes, it can be programmed through a computer, and the devices it controls can be controlled through ‘Activities’.

Some of the devices that can be controlled through the Harmony 650, are Tvs, cable boxes, DVRs, Home theater amplifiers, and DVD/BluRay players. The buttons on the Harmony 650, make controls of these devices very simple. Every button is located on the remote in a position where they are easy to find. The buttons are also backlit, so they are easy to see.

Since the remote is not rechargeable it runs on two AA batteries. This is seen as an advantage, since AA batteries are simple to replace, and they can be found in any everyday store.

If you are in the market for a one stop shop remote control, the Logitech Harmony 650 Universal Remote is a great option. It’s ability to control many devices combined with its simplicity and ease of use, makes it the perfect choice.

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Silver

Logitech’s Harmony H688, delivers powerful complete control of your home-entertainment system. The Harmony H688′s futuristic design includes a wide range of buttons including PVR support, bright backlighting and an interactive LCD screen. There is also the ability to program the H688 via the Internet through the Harmony’s unique Web Wizards.

This remote, along with the other harmony line, is an incredibly flexible universal remote. The library of supported equipment is very large and quite current.

Harmony H688 Remote

Just connect your Harmony remote to your computer and the Web wizard walks you step-by-step through a simple set up. Enter the model numbers of your components, then answer a few easy questions about how you “Watch TV” or “Watch a DVD.” Harmony lets you control even the most complex system without the hassle of programming complicated macros.

This remote supports a full range of audio-visual equipment and two zones of customizable video and audio. The on-line programming takes a list of equipment model numbers and suggests a set of activities possible with that equipment. Additional activities can be created, and auxiliary equipment can be added to existing activities (e.g., using the TV to display the CD or XM-radio programming).

Over the last couple of years, consumers have developed a fondness for Harmony Web-programmable universal remotes. The brand was originally developed by Canada’s Intrigue Technologies, which was later purchased by accessories giant Logitech. The Harmony 880 is the first Harmony remote to be fully conceived by Logitech’s designers. It’s also the first Harmony to feature a color screen and a built-in rechargeable battery along with a docking station.

Harmony Remotes feature a dumbbell shape, usually measuring 8.1 inches long by 2.3 inches wide by 1.3 inches deep and weighing about 5.8 ounces. In addition to the screen’s color capabilities, the LCD is large. The increased screen real estate offers room for a total of eight contextual icons, corresponding to adjacent hard buttons. The 128×160-pixel color display is pretty low resolution, but it’s a big improvement over the monochrome screens found on older models.

Look at any number of standard universal remote controls and you are likely to note one similarity: a cluster of buttons at the top, each labeled with a different component type. TV, VCR, DVD, DSS, etc… anyone whos ever used a remote will be familiar with the device-based control concept, where you hit the button corresponding to the device you want to use, do whatever needs to be done, and then press a different button to switch to the next component.

This approach may be the overwhelming industry standard, appearing on practically every remote control ever designed, but that doesn’t mean its the only way to operate your home theater or even the best way. If you’re tired of the whole device surfing routine and are looking for something a little different… even possibly better… you’ll want to take a look at a more innovative control idea: activities.

Enjoy exceptionally simple operation of your home theater system with the Harmony One. This remote’s color touchscreen clearly displays common activities, like “watch TV” or “listen to music.” When you select an activity, such as watching a DVD, the remote instantly evaluates your system, turns on or off the appropriate components, selects the proper settings, and starts the DVD player.

The remote’s contoured shape fits naturally in the palm of your hand for comfortable operation. Its backlit controls are logically and neatly arranged, so it’s easy to find the button you’re looking for. And the buttons are sculpted, so you can distinguish them by feel without having to look at the remote.

Harmony’s online wizard makes set up a snap. Just plug the remote into your computer with the provided USB cable, visit Harmony’s website, and answer some simple questions about your system. That’s it — the setup wizard automatically downloads the necessary codes and programs the remote for you. The site remembers your settings, too, so it’s easy to reprogram the Harmony One later if you change or add components.

Are you an Xbox 360 owner and want an all-in-one remote control? Logitech was on the ball and produced such a remote, and it can control probably every device in your gaming room. Take a closer look to see how user friendly this thing is!

Harmony Remotes from Logitech are considered to be some of the best on the market because of their functionality and reliability. One reason many people have held off picking one up is because of their relatively high price. Some people just don’t care to pay a lot for a remote control, and that’s understandable.

Harmony Xbox 360 Remote

What makes this particular remote so interesting is the fact that it works seamlessly with your Xbox 360. This is the first Harmony or even multi-function remote ever personally used, so it’s a good experiment to see just how easy it is to set up. Besides the fact that it supports your Xbox 360, it can also control 11 other devices for a total of 12. I will be testing it out with a few of my devices I have on hand to see if they are even supported, or work reliably with the remote. Let’s first take a look at the remote itself.

Looking for a simple way to take control of your home entertainment system? Check out the entire family of Logitech Harmony remote controls.

Logitech’s Harmony 890, an upgrade to the Harmony 880 remote control, uses both radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) wireless signals to deliver powerful complete control of your home-entertainment system that may be hidden behind cabinets.
